Gerhard Landmann (soccer player)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gerhard Landmann (born March 5, 1933 ) is a former German soccer player. He played for the BSG unit Pankow and the SC Chemie Halle in the 1950s and 1960s in the DS and GDR Oberliga .

Athletic career

In 1951, Landmann joined the newly founded soccer section of the East Berlin company sports community (BSG) Einheit Pankow. This was brought into being after VfB Pankow was relegated from the DS-Oberliga, the top division in GDR football, after the 1950/51 season. Since the SG Lichtenberg 47 had to relegate at the same time , East Berlin would only have been represented by one sports association ( SG Union Oberschöneweide ) in the new season . Since the GDR leadership had a strong interest in the sporting representation of the "capital of the GDR", they arranged that unit Pankow was integrated into the league as the 19th team without athletic qualifications.

Since only a few VfB players were willing to switch to the BSG unit, numerous new players had to be recruited. Among them was the 18-year-old Gerhard Landmann as one of the youngest in the team. He was only used from December 1951, but was then used in another 17 point games, in which he usually played as a half-right striker. In these meetings he scored three goals. At the end of the season, the team had proven to be unsuitable for the first division and had to be relegated. In the 1952/53 season Landmann played ten point games with the BSG unit in the second-rate GDR league .

In January 1953 he moved to the GDR league competitor HSG Wissenschaft Halle , where he played second division football until mid-1958. The University Sports Association (HSG) was upgraded to the Sports Club Science in 1955, but its competitive sports sections were incorporated into the SC Chemie Halle in June 1958. While the football section continued to complete the remaining 1958 point games as SC Chemie II in the GDR league, Landmann was immediately taken over into the league team, in which he played all 14 point games in defense or midfield until the end of the season. After that, SC Chemie was also relegated to the GDR League. The team returned to the league after a year, but Landmann was only involved with 16 appearances in the 26 point games. In the top league season in 1960 he was first a regular player in midfield with 17 point appearances, but did not participate in the last quarter of the season. For the seasons 1960 and 1961/62 the SC Chemie Landmann reported further for the upper division squad, which however no longer appeared there. Instead, Landmann played from 1961 to 1964 for the HSG Wissenschaft Halle in the fourth and from 1963 third class Halle district league . 1964/65 Landmann played for the district league club BSG Turbine Halle, which had taken over the football section of HSG Science.
