Gerhard Müller (born July 25, 1961 in Nuremberg ) is a former German automobile racing driver .

Career

Gerhard Müller entered motorsport in 1987. That year he drove in the German Renault 5 Cup , in the European Formula 3 Championship and in the German Formula 3 Championship .

He then switched to the DTM and in 1988 drove a season in a BMW M3 for the Auto-Tauber racing team , which he finished in 27th place overall. In the following year Müller only started twice, once at the Nürburgring and once at the Hockenheimring , in the DTM.

From 1989 onwards, Gerhard Müller mainly competed in the Porsche one-make cups. In the first year he drove in the Porsche 944 Turbo Cup and achieved eighth gear in the annual ranking. He then entered the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and, from 1993, the Porsche Supercup . He achieved his best season positions in these two racing series in 1996 and 1997. In the Carrera Cup he finished fifth in 1996 with his racing team GM Sports Racing Team and in the Supercup he finished ninth in 1997 with Farnbacher Motorsport . He played his last one-make cup season in 2002 .

For the Baumann Auto Technik racing team , he competed in several Interseries races from 1992 to 1995 . There he started with a BAT GTP Chevrolet in the 1st division with little success. His best result in the racing series was 18th place in the 1992 race at Brands Hatch .

Müller achieved his greatest motorsport success in 2001 in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring . There he drove a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 996) together with Gerhard Mannsperger, Wolf Silvester and Kurt Thiim, finishing in second place overall.
