Gerhard Pabst
Gerhard "Pius" Pabst (born February 13, 1934 in Mellenbach (Thuringia) ) is a German jazz and entertainment musician (trumpet).
Live and act
Pabst first learned the violin; at the age of 14 he switched to the trumpet and received academic training on this instrument in Eisenach from 1951 to 1954. During his apprenticeship as a motor vehicle mechanic, he played in a dance band. From 1955 he was a member of the Schwarz-Weiss Big Band; he also played in the groups of Alo Koll and Fips Fleischer . Since 1962 he has belonged to the dance orchestra of the Berliner Rundfunk, under the direction of Günter Gollasch , since 1974 as principal trumpeter; Tours have taken him to Eastern European countries and Austria. In 1993 he ended his career as an active musician. He can also be heard on albums with Günther Kretschmer , Onkel Stanislaus and His Jazz Grandpas , Manfred Krug / Günther Fischer , the orchestra Siegfried Mai, Jerzy Milian , Thad Jones and Václav Zahradník .
