Günter Gollasch
Günter Gollasch (born March 8, 1923 in Burg , Cottbus district ; † March 10, 2011 in Rüdersdorf near Berlin ) was a German clarinetist and band leader .
Life
After elementary school , Günter Gollasch attended the orchestra school in Cottbus from 1938 to 1942 . This was followed by clarinet studies at the Klindworth-Scharwenka Conservatory in Berlin . From 1953 he was the set leader of the saxophone group in the “Great Dance and Entertainment Orchestra ” founded in 1950 by the Berliner Rundfunk . In 1954 the "Kapelle Günter Gollasch" emerged, which recorded recordings for the Berlin radio and Amiga and appeared live in the test program of the German TV radio . On February 1, 1956, the "Tanzorchester des Berliner Rundfunks" was created, which from 1971 was called "Rundfunk-Tanzorchester Berlin". Until 1981 he was its chief conductor. Gollasch brought together outstanding musicians in his big band , among them Joachim Graswurm and Antonin Stepanek (both trumpet ), Friedhelm Schönfeld ( saxophone ), Hubert Katzenbeier and Fredy Lehmann (both trombone ) and Klaus Koch ( double bass and bass guitar ). The second conductor was the arranger and composer Günther Kretschmer . Gollasch's successor as chief conductor was Martin Hoffmann in 1981. Since 1956 Günter Gollasch was also active as a solo clarinetist. One of his most successful titles was Yvette , a composition by Klaus Hugo . On June 7th, 2008 Gollasch gave a sold out concert with the big band Meerane for the trumpeter Horst Fischer interest group in Chemnitz-Adelsberg .
Günter Gollasch died of colon cancer in the hospital in Rüdersdorf near Berlin .

Günter Gollasch made thousands of recordings for radio, record, television and DEFA with his Rundfunk-Tanzorchester Berlin, which was called "Orchester Günter Gollasch" during Amiga recordings, as well as with various other formations under his direction . There were also numerous live concerts in the GDR and abroad. At national and international festivals , the band accompanied the soloists. As a clarinetist Gollasch had an excellent reputation, especially because of his "velvety" vibrato . As a band leader, he is placed in a row with Paul Kuhn , Hugo Strasser and Max Greger , with whom he celebrated great successes in 2003 and 2004 in the series "Swing Legends" at the Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin .
