Gerhard Ritter (Councilor)

Gerhard Ritter (born June 26, 1629 in Lübeck ; † January 4, 1717 ibid) was a German merchant and councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Ritter was the son of the Lübeck merchant Andreas Ritter . In 1671 he became honorary head of the Lübeck orphanage . After the death of his older brother, Lübeck's mayor Johann Ritter , he was elected to the Lübeck council in 1701 at the age of 72 from the circle of Lübeck skipper drivers. As councilor he was the town’s treasurer . The pastor and senior Georg Ritter (1639–1706) was another brother.
