Gerhard Schloemer

Gerhard Schloemer (born November 12, 1924 - August 20, 2008 ) was a German entrepreneur.

Career

After graduating from high school in Altena in 1942 , Schloemer was called up for military service. He fought on the Eastern and Western Fronts and was wounded three times. His last rank was lieutenant in the reserve .

After the end of the war and a one-year internship, he studied metallurgy at RWTH Aachen University in 1946 . In 1948 he became a member of the Corps Montania. He completed his studies in the winter semester 1949/50 as a Dipl.-Ing. with distinction. In 1951 he joined the metal factory Gerhardi & Cie of his father-in-law Carl Steinweg in Lüdenscheid as a managing partner . The company expanded significantly under his leadership.

Schloemer was an honorary judge and board member in the regional employers' association. In 1972 he became Vice President and 1979 President of the South Westphalian Chamber of Commerce and Industry . In 1980 he became a member of the board of the Society of Friends of the Distance University in Hagen and promoted the idea of ​​part-time distance learning.
