Karl Bollenrath

Karl Bollenrath (born July 8, 1911 in Mehring (Mosel) ; † December 10, 1999 ) was the founder and conductor of the Mehring winegrowers' band from 1932 to 1990 as well as the founder of the Mehring wine festival . He was also a composer , arranger and lyricist and promoted the songs of the Moselle region .

He was a member of the Trier-Saarburg District Music Association , the Rhineland-Palatinate State Music Association and the Federal Music Advisory Board.

In 1973 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his services to folk music and especially to Moselle folklore .

On his 75th birthday in 1986, he received honorary citizenship from the municipality of Mehring .
