Gerhard Schmitt-Thiel

Gerhard Schmitt-Thiel (born October 21, 1941 in Hamm , Westphalia) is a German journalist and television presenter .

Life

Gerhard Schmitt-Thiel passed his Abitur in 1963 at the humanistic high school Hammonense in Hamm. After successfully studying law, Schmitt-Thiel began an internship at the Hessischer Rundfunk . In 1979 he switched to Bayerischer Rundfunk , where he became department head for quiz programs and special projects. As such, he was responsible for about 30 quiz programs and game shows as well as the program Stars in der Manege .

From 1986 Schmitt-Thiel presented the show Showgeschichten , in which prominent contemporaries presented their biography and the highlights of their careers.

In 1990 Schmitt-Thiel left Bayerischer Rundfunk and has been working as a freelance presenter on radio and television ever since. He also moderates galas and other events.

He is second married to a social worker and lives with his family in Munich .
