Gerhard Schneider (Romanist)

Gerhard Schneider (* 25. November 1938 in Duisburg ) is a retired professor of Romance languages at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Gerhard Schneider was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . From 1971 to 1973 he was a research assistant at the Romance Department at the Free University of Berlin . Since 1973 he has held a professorship at the Institute for Romance Languages ​​and Literatures at the University of Frankfurt am Main .

From 1974, disciplinary proceedings were initiated against Schneider because he had described the death of the worker Günter Routhier in a labor court trial in Duisburg as "police murder" in a press release . In 1976, Gerhard Schneider ran for the Maoist Communist Party of Germany in the 1976 federal election .

Scientifically, Schneider was not very productive. Two of his works, in which he was involved, appeared in party publications of the Maoist KPD.
