Gerhard Seibold
Gerhard Seibold (born May 13, 1943 in Klosterneuburg ) is a former Austrian canoeist and high school professor . In 1968 he and Günther Pfaff won a bronze medal in a two-person kayak at the Olympic Games in Mexico City and became world champion in Copenhagen in 1970 .
Career
At the 1966 Canoe World Championships in East Berlin , Austria won the silver medal in a four-kayak over 1000 meters behind the Romanian boat with Günther Pfaff, Kurt Lindlgruber , Helmut Hediger and Gerhard Seibold. Two years later, at the 1968 Olympic Games , the four in the same line-up took seventh place. However, Seibold and Pfaff won bronze in a two-person kayak over 1000 meters behind the boats from the Soviet Union and Hungary.
At the 1970 World Championships in Copenhagen, Günther Pfaff and Gerhard Seibold won the 1000-meter course and took third place over 500 meters. With the changeover from the four-year rhythm to the annual rhythm, world championships were held again in 1971; Pfaff and Seibold won silver over 1000 meters in Belgrade. At the 1972 Olympic Games , Seibold only competed in a four-kayak, but was eliminated in the preliminary run.
After studying to be a teacher , Gerhard Seibold taught the subjects of movement and sport (formerly physical exercises) and geography and economics at the Zell am See high school from 1973 to 1999. In the course of his teaching activities, he received the title of senior teacher .
In 1996 he was awarded the Golden Merit of the Republic of Austria .
