Gerhard Thiele (SS member)

Gerhard Joachim Richard Thiele recently, Gerhard Lindemann (* 29. April 1909 in Szczecin ; † 30th June 1994 in Dusseldorf ) was a German teacher and NSDAP -Kreisleiter in Gardelegen and as such, together with the SS - Hauptscharführer Erhard Brauny one of those responsible for the massacre in the Isenschnibber field barn on April 13, 1945, in which 1,016 prisoners from the Mittelbau-Dora and Hanover-Stöcken concentration camps were murdered.

In the SS he had achieved the rank of SS-Obersturmbannführer and in the Wehrmacht the rank of first lieutenant .

In January 1946 he went into hiding, worked as a department manager at the Cologne trade fair and last lived in Düsseldorf as a pensioner with a false identity. He sent money to his wife and sick son in the GDR. From 1991 investigations against Thiele were running at the Magdeburg district court and the Stendal public prosecutor's office . It was not until 1997, three years after his death, that his true identity could be found.
