Gerhard Tremer

Gerhard Tremer (born April 17, 1924 in Stammheim am Main ; † August 31, 2009 in Munich ) was a German bank manager and from 1972 to 1991 a member of the board of directors of Bayerische Landesbank.

Life

After the formative years of war and subsequent US imprisonment, Tremer began studying law at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg in 1946, where he regularly attended Kurt Georg Kiesinger's revision courses. After completing his studies, the fully qualified lawyer began his professional activity in the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance in 1953, and later he worked for the Bavarian State Bank. In 1961 he joined the board of the Bayerische Landesbodenkreditanstalt. He played a key role in the merger between this institute and Bayerische Gemeindebank to form Bayerische Landesbank in 1972, and from then on he headed the central disposition, stock exchange and issuing business departments until his retirement at the end of 1990.

Offices

In addition to his work at BayernLB , Gerhard Tremer was a member of the Presidium of the Bavarian Stock Exchange, the Central Capital Market Committee and a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Public Banks. In 1982 he was appointed honorary professor for currency law at the University of Würzburg. He was also a member of the supervisory board of Bank Hauck & Aufhäuser, Daimler-Benz AG and Mannesmann-Sachs AG. At Heilit + Woerner Bau AG and Baader Bank AG he was chairman of the supervisory board.

Honors

Tremer was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit due to his significant contribution to the merger of the Bayerische Landesbodenkreditanstalt with the Bayerische Gemeindebank .
