Gerhard Wagner (sociologist)

Gerhard Adam Wagner (born November 27, 1958 in Donzdorf ) is a German sociologist. He is Professor of Sociology at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Life

Wagner studied sociology and political science at the University of Heidelberg , received his doctorate in 1992 from the University of Bielefeld , where he also completed his habilitation in 1998 . After teaching and research activities in Heidelberg, Bielefeld, Leipzig , the University of Würzburg and Zurich , he accepted a professorship for sociology with a focus on the philosophy of science / logic of the social sciences at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main in 2004 .

His main research interests are: science studies, cultural sociology and political sociology . Among other things, he is the editor of Max Weber's methodological writings as part of the Max Weber Complete Edition (MWG I / 7).
