Gerhard Waschler (born July 2, 1957 in Passau ) is a Bavarian politician ( CSU ) and was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1998 to 2008 . In 2013 he moved back into the state parliament as a direct candidate for the constituency of Passau-Ost.

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1976, Waschler studied sport, Catholic religion and German and completed his studies in 1980 with the state examination, which was followed by a two-year legal clerkship. Until 1987 he was a teacher at the Adalbert-Stifter-Gymnasium (Passau) , in 1986 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. at the University of Regensburg , the subject of the doctorate was "Multi-dimensional conditional performance test for school sports". Between 1987 and 1992, Gerhard Waschler worked at the Bavarian State Ministry for Education, Culture, Science and Art, and then took up his position as deputy headmaster at the Leopoldinum Gymnasium in Passau. In 1995 he completed his habilitation at the University of Würzburg . In 2002 he became an adjunct professor at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Passau. After leaving the Bavarian State Parliament in 2008, he returned to the civil service. From March 2009 until his return to the Bavarian State Parliament in September 2013, he was Senior Academic Director at the Sports Center of the University of Passau .

Gerhard Waschler is married and has one child.

politics

Waschler is a member of the CSU and was elected board member of the CSU Lower Bavaria and the district chairman of the CSU Passau-Stadt in 1996 - in spring 2015 he no longer ran for the office of district chairman. He is the regional chairman of the CSU public service working group, district chairman of the Union of Expellees of Lower Bavaria and district chairman of the university working group.

Waschler has been a councilor in Passau since 1996. In 1998 he entered the Bavarian State Parliament for the first time via the list of second votes (re-election 2003; until 2008). In his first two Landtag periods, he was a member of the committees for questions of the public service, university and culture, budget as well as education and culture - and was elected chairman of the committee for education, youth and sport in 2005.

In the state elections in 2008 he was unable to return to the state parliament as a candidate on the list in the Lower Bavaria district. In contrast, in the state elections in Bavaria in 2013, he won the direct mandate for the Passau-Ost constituency with 46.6% of the valid first votes. In the current legislative period (until 2018), Waschler is the chairman of the CSU working group on education and culture and is also the deputy chairman of the state parliament's education committee. He also holds the office of spokesman for education policy for the CSU parliamentary group and is a member of the parliamentary committee of the CSU parliamentary group.

Volunteering

For many years he worked as a trainer, department head and club chairman of FC Passau. Waschler has been chairman of the Lower Bavaria district of the Bavarian Athletics Association since 1993, and recently also Vice President of the Bavarian Athletics Association.

Honors

On June 27, 2018, Waschler received the Bavarian Order of Merit .
