Gerhard Weixelberger (born November 20, 1660 in Mauer , † July 26, 1728 in Heiligenkreuz ) was an Austrian Cistercian and 54th abbot of Heiligenkreuz Abbey .

Life

He was dressed on May 11, 1681, had to flee the monastery in the Turkish year 1683 and lived in Rein monastery until November 1685 . There he was ordained a priest, there his primacy took place. After a six-month stay at Baumgartenberg Abbey , he returned to Heiligenkreuz in 1688. He served as kitchen master for five years, was then responsible for the forest property of the monastery and finally worked in the pastoral care of the incorporated parishes of Steinbruch and Podersdorf .

From 1700 to 1701 he was administrator of the Neuberg Abbey , then returned to the pastoral care of Heiligenkreuz parishes and was elected abbot on July 21, 1705. As abbot he soon became (1706) vicar general of the Cistercian order in the Austrian countries. He was buried in the Anna chapel on the cloister in Heiligenkreuz.
