Robert Leeb O.Cist. (* August 23, 1688 in Vienna ; † August 15, 1755 ibid) was the 55th abbot of Heiligenkreuz Abbey .

Abbot Robert Leeb

He made his profession on August 24, 1704 in the Heiligenkreuz Abbey . On January 3, 1712 he was ordained a priest . From 1719 to 1720 he made a 16-month trip to Constantinople and the Holy Land with the permission of his abbot . When he returned, he took over the positions of novice master , kitchen master and librarian. On September 13, 1728 the convent elected him abbot . He died in Vienna and is buried in the chapel of the dead in the Heiligenkreuz cloister.

Abbot Robert particularly encouraged the worship of the cross relic. He founded a brotherhood in honor of the Holy Cross and also had the Baroque Stations of the Cross built. The valuable baroque edging of the cross relic still preserved today goes back to his design.

In 1734 he was able to win back the West Hungarian Abbey of Szentgotthárd for the Cistercian order and sent Heiligenkreuz confreres there.
