Gerhard Witte (born June 23, 1920 ) is a former German soccer player. He was with the BSG wagon Dessau Ostzonaler Cup winner and played one season in the eastern zone league .

Athletic career

In the line-up of the first FDGB cup winner , the Betriebsportgemeinschaft (BSG) Waggonbau Dessau, Gerhard Witte played in the position of the right winger. Dessau won the cup final on August 28, 1949 against Gera-Süd with a goal from Witte's storm colleague Franz Kusmierek . By winning the cup, BSG Waggonbau qualified for the zone league, which was held for the first time in the 1949/50 season (later DS-Oberliga, GDR-Oberliga ). The squad again included 29-year-old Witte. Player- coach Manthey put him back in the first three league games as a right winger, with Witte heralding the 3-1 home game win over Anker Wismar in the second encounter with the 1-0 opening goal . It was Witte's only hit in the zone league. When Rolf Theile moved from Union Halle to Dessau in October 1949 , he took over Witte's position, which was then only called up in three other league games up to the 10th game day. He played his sixth and last point game for BSG Waggonbau on November 20, 1949 at the encounter between Waggonfabrik Dessau and Meerane (2: 1). Even after that, Witte was no longer active in higher-class football.
