Gerhard von der Mark
Gerhard von der Mark (* 1220 ; † August 11, 1272 ) was Bishop of Münster from 1261 to 1272 .
Gerhard was a younger son of Count Adolf I von der Mark from his marriage to Irmgard von Geldern , daughter of Count Otto I. Bishop Gerhard inaugurated the St. Paulus Cathedral in Münster in 1264 and was a sponsor of the Minorite Monastery in Münster, which he placed under the patronage of St. Catharine. In 1270, the bishop destroyed Groß Schonebeck Castle in Wierling, which was rebuilt despite his prohibition. In 1271 he had Vischering Castle built.
According to tradition, the introduction of the Feast of Corpus Christi in the diocese of Münster went back to Bishop Gerhard von der Mark.
