Gerhardt Langguth

Gerhardt Langguth (born May 12, 1925 in Wiesbaden ; † November 25, 2017 in Mosbach ) was a Protestant theologian , pastor and academy director of the Protestant Academy Baden .

Life and work

Langguth grew up in Wertheim . In the Second World War he was in the Reich Labor Service and soldier from March 1943 . He was wounded in Latvia and became an American prisoner of war near Marseille .

From 1945 to 1953 he studied in Heidelberg and Basel theology . His studies with Karl Barth in Basel were particularly formative.

Until 1954 he was vicar in Karlsruhe and then parish priest in Kieselbronn . From 1964 to 1970 he was industrial and male pastor for North Baden in Mannheim and then for eight years dean and pastor in Mosbach . From 1977 he was director of studies at the Evangelical Academy Baden in Karlsruhe and from June 1, 1978 he was the director of the academy. From 1965 to 1989 he was the representative of the Baden regional church for “Church and Sport”. Langguth was a member of the SPD and in the union.

He was married to Hanna Langguth, b. Neumann, there are three sons from the marriage.
