Gerlinde Glatzer

Gerlinde Glatzer (born May 6, 1950 ) is a former German table tennis player . Her best time in sport was in the 1970s and 1980s. She was German team champion twice with FTG Frankfurt .

Career

Gerlinde Glatzer, the daughter of the later instructor of the Hessian table tennis association HTTV Eitel Glatzer, began table tennis in 1964 in Rhünda in northern Hesse and joined the KSV Hessen Kassel association in 1966 . In 1971 she moved to the Bundesliga club Gießener SV because of her studies . She was Hessen champion in singles five times (1972, 1973, 1976, 1979, 1980). In 1973 she won the team world championship for students in Hanover with Wiebke Hendriksen and Barbara Zips. From 1968 to 1981 she took part in national German championships 14 times , where she came third in singles and doubles with Gertrud Potocnik in Böblingen in 1981.

Gerlinde Glatzer was invited twice to unofficial international matches, the first time in November 1972 in Rüsselsheim against Japan, and later against China. In 1982 she left Giessen for FTG Frankfurt , with whose women's team she became German champions in the 1986 and 1987 seasons.

Then she ended her career as a competitive table tennis athlete and played mainly tennis, where she achieved top division strength with the KTC Wilhelmshöhe.

Private

In the early 1980s Gerlinde Glatzer worked as a teacher for sports and social studies at an integrated comprehensive school in Guxhagen . She later became a senior teacher. Since June 1987 she has been married to the teacher Christoph Bittner.
