Germaine Lebel (singer)
Germaine Lebel (born March 22, 1894 in Montreal , † June 14, 1972 in Montreal) was a Canadian singer ( soprano ).
Life
The daughter of the singer Édouard LeBel and niece of the composer Charles Labelle studied singing with Alfred La Liberté . In addition to works by La Liberté, her repertoire included music by Claude Debussy and Nikolai Medtner . She also often sang arrangements of folk music. In 1923 she appeared in the world premiere of Guillaume Coutures Jean le Précurseur in the role of Salomé. She participated in numerous broadcast recordings for the CBC .
