Gerrit Bleker
Gerrit Claesz. Bleker (* approx. 1593 in Haarlem ; † 1656 there , also Gerrit Bleecker or Gerrit Blecker ) was a Dutch painter .
Life
Gerrit Bleker was a painter who worked in Haarlem. His pictures deal with biblical themes or are animal paintings in landscapes. Eight works are dated between 1638 and 1643. His works have "only mediocre merit and are, especially the histories, under Rembrandt's influence".
Paintings by him are: "Simeon holding the Christ child in the temple" (1637), "Paul and Barnabas at Lystra" and "Annunciation of the Shepherds" (1646).
He was buried in Haarlem on February 8, 1656.
