Sebastian Schuster (* 17th February 1956 in Darmstadt ) is a German politician of the CDU . Since June 23, 2014 he has been the full-time district administrator of the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Sieg district .

Life

Sebastian Schuster obtained his Abitur in June 1975 at the Archbishop's Gymnasium in Bonn-Beuel . He then did his military service in the Air Force from July 1, 1975 to September 30, 1976 and then studied law in Bonn and Freiburg . After passing the 1st state examination in 1981 and the 2nd state examination in 1985, he was admitted to the bar and most recently worked as a specialist lawyer for labor and traffic law in Königswinter - Oberpleis .

Local politics

Sebastian Schuster joined the CDU in 1974 and was chairman of the Junge Union Königswinter during this time . Since 1989 he has represented the CDU in the district assembly of the Rhein-Sieg district where he has been a member of the district committee since 1990 . Until he was elected as district administrator, he was deputy parliamentary group chairman, chairman of the youth welfare committee, the equal opportunities committee and the personnel committee. From 1999 to 2009 he was a member of the city ​​council in Königswinter. In the same year he joined the medium-sized and business association of the CDU / CSU. In addition to his political activities, Schuster is chairman of the supervisory board of RSAG, participant in an advisory capacity on the administrative board of Kreissparkasse Köln, deputy chairman of Metropolregion Rheinland eV, board member of Region Köln / Bonn eV, district council North Rhine-Westphalia, association chairman of the special purpose association VRS, and the Wahnbachtalsperrenverband as well engaged in numerous other associations and committees.

On January 18, 2014, at the general assembly of the CDU district association, he was elected with 55% (411 of 739 valid votes) as district administrator for the local elections, as his predecessor Frithjof Kühn was no longer a candidate for reasons of age. In the election on May 25, 2014, he received 47.69% of the vote, narrowly missing the necessary absolute majority and for the first time since the direct election of the district administrator was introduced in 1999, a runoff election was necessary. He won the runoff election on June 15, 2014 with a turnout of 25.75% with 55.4% against Dietmar Tendler from the SPD . The swearing-in as district administrator took place on July 4th during the constituent meeting of the district council.

Since he had to stop his legal work as district administrator, Schuster sold his law firm to a colleague from Siegburg .

Private

Sebastian Schuster is married and has three children. His denomination is Roman Catholic . Schuster actively plays tennis and football. In the 1980/81 season he became champions of northwestern Switzerland with the Old Boys Basel .

Volunteering

Schuster was chairman of TuS 05 Oberpleis, was president for over twenty years and is now honorary president of the Rhein-Sieg district sports association and is a member or chairman of the boards of trustees of various foundations of the Kreissparkasse Köln.

On January 27, 2013, he received the sports badge of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia from the North Rhine-Westphalian Minister for Sport Ute Schäfer .
