Gert Noël (born May 16, 1927 in Aachen ; † November 10, 1998 in Ibiza ) was a Belgian entrepreneur and founder of the NMC company .

biography

Gert Noël returned to his home town of Hauset in 1949 after completing an apprenticeship as a volunteer from Liège . His first entrepreneurial idea was to "make life easier for housewives with clever new products". For example, he bought polyurethane foam , cut it into small blocks and an artificial pumice stone was created, the forerunner of the modern household sponge . He initially supplied drugstores and founded with his wife Odette in 1950 originally as a commercial enterprise designed company N oil M Arquet & C ie (NMC) at Eupen marketplace. The company moved to its own premises on Hochstrasse in 1959. The company's headquarters have been in Eynatten since 1983 on the former site of the Jacques Chocolaterie . The family holding operates under the name Nomainvest . Due to the economic rise of the various companies, his family is one of the 200 richest families in Belgium.

In addition to the NMC company, after several years of research, Gert Noël began manufacturing extruded corks for closing wine bottles in the USA with one of his sons at the end of the 1990s. The company Nomacorc now has branches in the USA, China, Argentina and Thimister , near the NMC headquarters. In 2016 the company was realigned through the merger with several other manufacturers of synthetic bottle caps under the company name Vinventions.

Gert Noël Fund Foundation
