School opened in 1855

The name Walhorn is found for the first time in 833 in a document. All places in the vicinity belonged to Bank Walhorn. In 1072, King Heinrich IV donated the Walhorn Bank, which belongs to the Duchy of Limburg, to the Marienstift Aachen .

In a document in 1266 a "Bosch von Hoisoit" was mentioned for the first time. A few years later, in 1271, the castle of Hauset was mentioned in a document in connection with the name "Tilhelm von Holseit". The floor plan of the castle is still visible today.

Parish Church of Saint Roch

St. Rochus was the Rochuskapelle ordained that after a plague epidemic was built from 1635 to 1637 in 1650 and restored in 1899, and the neo-Gothic parish church of 1858 (extended from 1908 to 1910, Bell 1961). Hauset was detached from the Walhorn parish in 1676 and assigned to the Eynatten parish .

The Hammerbrücke, built according to a design by Georg Moller , was inaugurated in 1843. It was a two-story railway viaduct over the Göhl valley and the connection between Cologne, Liège, Antwerp and Brussels. The old bridge construction was blown up at the beginning of the Second World War .

Hauset became an independent municipality in 1848, and a school was built a few years later. In 1857 the foundation stone for its own parish church was laid in Hauset. Since the Belgian municipal reform in 1977 , Hauset has belonged to the Raeren municipality.
