Life and artistic work

Characteristic of her work are numerous portraits that are stylistically strongly influenced by her teachers Franz Skarbina and Hugo von Habermann . Laurenz studied at the academies in Berlin, Munich and Karlsruhe. She met her husband, the painter Felix Bürgers , in the studio of Ludwig Schmid-Reutte (Karlsruhe) . The two married in Dachau in 1904 . The couple was a co-founder of the Dachau artist group . Her house at Herzog-Albrecht-Strasse 1 (now 12) became the meeting point for artists in the city on the Amper. For many years it was a dormitory for people with disabilities. The villa has been in private hands since 2014.

After the death of her husband, she moved from Dachau and lived in her hometown of Hanover in the Waldheim district .
