The Gesamtverband Steinkohle e. V. ( GVSt ) is an employers' association and tariff partner of the hard coal industry based in Herne .

history

The association was founded on December 11, 1968 as the general association of the German hard coal mining industry in Essen , in order to represent general concerns and in particular the economic and socio-political interests of its members externally. The general association was founded by the four business associations of the Ruhr mining, Saar mining, Aachen hard coal mining and Lower Saxony hard coal mining, all of which were regionally active. The general association has been a registered association since July 9, 2009 .

In terms of collective bargaining policy, he cooperated with the Coal Mining Association (UVSt), which was dissolved on August 6, 2007. Since then, the tasks of the UVSt have been taken over by the General Association of Hard Coal. On October 14th, 2009, the association was merged with the Association for Mining Interests (VbI), whereby the General Association of Hard Coal became the last interest group of the hard coal mining industry.

The GVSt today

The Association will perform the Economic and employers' association , and represents and promotes the interests of its members. In doing so, the association should particularly promote economic and socio-political issues. The GVSt is a member of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations and the Federation of German Industry . In addition to working in the major employers 'associations, the GVSt is also involved in regional employers' associations in Saarland and North Rhine-Westphalia. In the Federal Association of German Industry , in the Association for Raw Materials and Mining and in the European Hard and Lignite Association (EURACOAL), the general association represents the interests of its members in economic, energy and environmental issues. In addition, the Gesamtverband Steinkohle represents the interests of its members in the German Statutory Accident Insurance and the German Federal Pension Insurance .

Total expenditure in € million 7,041 7.626 6,792 6.227 6.067

Of the expenses, the largest amount goes to personnel costs. In the years 2005 to 2009, these were between 44% and 49%. In 2009 personnel costs amounted to € 2.718 million. The second highest item was the cost of membership in umbrella organizations at 27% to 30%. Material expenses were the third largest item, accounting for 24% to 26% of total costs. In 2009, the General Association of Hard Coal spent € 229,000 on communication, a sub-item of material expenses. The Gesamtverband Steinkohle is financed exclusively from the contributions of its members. Since the members are coal-mining companies, they also receive hard coal subsidies . The cost of membership can be added to the production costs, which is why part of the membership fees is paid indirectly from coal grants.
