School life
Special subjects
In the differentiation area of grades 5 and 6, the GSG offers a scientific project course, in which high-performing students are encouraged to think and work interdisciplinary by changing topics every six months. This course arose from the concept of a project class with a mathematical and scientific focus that was organized between 2001 and 2012 together with RWTH Aachen University .
A second foreign language can be chosen from the 6th grade onwards. You can choose between French and Latin .
From the 8th grade onwards, students can choose the subject "European studies", which is taught bilingually in English.
In addition, the subject combinations “Geography and Environment” and “Information Technology and Communication” and, as a rare subject, also education are offered.
Since the 2017/18 school year, the students in Q2 have been able to choose a three-hour project course, in which they initially receive basic developmental psychology and pedagogical training and then, after the autumn break, teach learning strategies as "learning coaches" with supervision and further theoretical help in class 5.
All-day care
The grammar school is a bound all-day school and, in addition to teaching, offers working groups, remedial courses, weekly schedule hours and free work. There are also sports activities in the lunch breaks.
