In the case of examinations within the scope of the craft regulations , the participant, as a prospective journeyman (craft assistant), must demonstrate the special skills that should be acquired in the training during the production of the workpiece. It is intended to show that, for example, machines are used properly and professionally and that logical and practical thinking is applied.

The journeyman's piece (even several) must be manufactured within a specified period of time. The audit committee of competent Guild evaluated after the completion of the manufacturing process and results, graded and this created, possibly in conjunction with other parts of the practical test, the practice note of the final examination.
