Society for Phytotherapy

The Society for Phytotherapy ( GPT for short ), based in Cologne, is a registered association founded in November 1971 that publishes the journal for phytotherapy and awards the phytotherapy prizes .

According to its own account, the GPT would like to promote “both basic pharmaceutical and pharmacological research on medicinal plants and, in particular, clinical research with herbal medicinal products in the sense of evidence-based medicine”. It is a member of the European umbrella organization European Scientific Cooperative on Phytotherapy and organizer of the annual Phytocongress (partly in cooperation with comparable organizations in Switzerland and Austria), in which the phytotherapy prizes are awarded. GPT is a member of the Working Group of the Scientific Medical Associations (AMWF) and can therefore also anchor phytotherapy in the guidelines. There are also close relationships with the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research, GA.

Journal of Phytotherapy

The Journal of Phytotherapy (short ZPT or Z Phytother ) is a bi-monthly in Thieme Verlag published journal that appeal to doctors , pharmacists and medical practitioners aimed. It has been published by the GPT since 1980.
