The German Society for Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine e. V. (GTÜM, partly also GeTÜM ) is a German specialist society for diving medicine including hyperbaric medicine based in Mainz . The non-profit company, founded in 1983, creates medical guidelines for diving medical treatments and for the training of specialists in the field of hyperbaric medicine, especially hyperbaric oxygenation and diving fitness examinations . She is a member of the Working Group of Scientific Medical Societies .

The association is the leading specialist society for the diving accident guideline , which was last [outdated] in 2014 with the participation of eight other specialist societies and organizations from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The diving accident guideline is currently being revised.

structure

The GTÜM is managed by the executive board. He is elected at the regular general assembly, which takes place at least every three years.

The inner board consists of the president, the vice-president, the secretary, the treasurer and the president of the previous electoral term (past president). The inner board is responsible for a. monitoring the management of current business (office). The president, the vice-president and the secretary are authorized to represent, each two together.

The extended board consists of the members of the executive board, the Caisson editor and up to six advisory boards. Without voting rights, a member of the board of the Association of German Pressure Chamber Centers (VDD) also belongs to the extended board.

The GTÜM office is affiliated with the Murnau professional association accident clinic in Murnau am Staffelsee in Bavaria .

caisson

The Caisson ( French for ' caisson ') is the organ of the GTÜM and appears four times a year, around the middle of March, June, September and December. The occupational physician and past president Wilhelm Welslau is responsible for the editorial work.

Checklist for diving fitness

Together with the Austrian Society for Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine (ÖGTH), the GTÜM published the second, completely revised edition of the diving suitability checklist , which contains examination standards and recommendations for doctors (Gentner Verlag, Stuttgart 2014, ISBN 978-3- 87247-747-7 , 447 pages).
