The Society for Freedom Association - Friends and Sponsors of the FNSt is an association of liberal citizens that supports the work of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and the cooperating liberal state foundations.
history
The association was founded on April 19, 1961 in Bonn . In the course of adding to the name of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in 2007, the association also slightly changed its name, Society of Friends and Patrons of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation , in order to emphasize its ties to the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.

The first chairman of the association was the lawyer Friedrich Ulrich from Frankfurt / Main. His deputy was Margarete Höpker-Aschoff, the wife of the first President of the Federal Constitutional Court Hermann Höpker-Aschoff . Further members of the founding board were Alfred Milatz (treasurer) and the assessors Herta Ilk and Klaus Scholder .

The current board consists of: Manfred R. Eisenbach (chairman), Lilli Löbsack (deputy chairman), Helmut Hörold (treasurer), Mirco Dragowski (secretary) and the assessors: Mario Burow, Edeltraud Cromme and Oliver Stirböck .
activities
The association awards a prize, promotes publications on freedom issues and supports studies on the implementation of liberal concepts. In addition, the board of directors is involved in awarding the Wolf-Erich-Kellner Prize by having a seat on the board of trustees. In the first few years in particular, conferences and seminars were held together with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
