The Law no. 1301 on the detention of mentally ill is a state law of the Saarland . It regulates the placement , as far as it does not take place according to the BGB or StGB .

One background is the psychiatric reform in Saarland in the 1990s: local care should be ensured.

In 2013 there was a need for action to regulate compulsory treatment.
