Gesine Dreyer

Gesine Dreyer (born July 13, 1969 in Hamburg ) is a German harpist .

Life

She had been taking lessons from Julie Hahn since 1981 and in 1986 she won first prize at the national youth music competition and the Hamburg Philharmonic Prize. From 1986 she studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Julie Hahn, from 1988 with Maria Graf . During her studies she was a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie .

In 1991 she finished her studies and won the sponsorship award of the German University Competition. She then worked as a harpist at the Frankfurt Opera , before becoming solo harpist at the Kiel Opera in 1993 . She now works as a freelance musician with Northern German orchestras such as the Kiel Opera House, the Lübeck Theater , the Hamburg State Opera , the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and the Orchestra of the North German Radio Hanover.

In addition to working in the orchestra, he began teaching at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater in 1995 , from 1997 to 2001 as a representative of the harp professorship. Since 2001 she has been working as a lecturer for major and minor students at the Hanns Eisler University of Music , and since 2009 at the Lübeck University of Music .

In addition to orchestral work, she is particularly interested in smaller ensembles. In chamber music terms, these are classic harp trios with violin and cello , but also modern music. For Manfred Stahnke she played some premieres of microtonal music .

Every year the Landesmusikrat Schleswig-Holstein proclaims the instrument of the year . In 2016, the year of the harp, Gesine Dreyer was won as patron.
