The spag , formerly with the full name Oö. Gesundheits- und Spitals-AG , was the operator of the Upper Austrian regional hospitals and with a market share of around 29% the largest Upper Austrian hospital operator . The company was based in Linz and operated 6 hospitals at 8 locations. The owner was the state of Upper Austria via the Upper Austria . Landesholding GmbH .

On October 1, 2018, the Upper Austria. Gesundheits- und Spitals-AG reorganized into Oberösterreichische Gesundheitsholding GmbH. The brand name spag was continued until the brand relaunch and was replaced by OÖG in mid-2019.

The group of companies started its business on January 1st, 2002. In 2017 it employed 7,287 people, 1,076 of whom were doctors and other academic staff. The turnover in 2017 was 549.95 million euros. In 2017, a total of 1,129,221 outpatient treatments were carried out. 141,863 patients were admitted as inpatients, a total of 641,690 days were spent.

In October 2018, the supervisory board of Landes-Spitalsholding Gespag decided to merge the Steyr and Kirchdorf hospitals on January 1, 2020 to form the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Clinic with two locations.
