The Armenian High School Getronagan ( Armenian Ազգային Կեդրոնական Վարժարան , Turkish Özel Getronagan Ermeni Lisesi ) is an Armenian- speaking high school in Karaköy / Istanbul .

The Armenian Apostolic Patriarch of Constantinople , Archbishop Nersès II. Varjabédian , invited important Armenian donors to the Patriarchate on December 16, 1882 in order to restore the patriarchal seat and to found the Getronagan School (central school). On the first day, 1,450 lira were collected. Unable to finish everything before his death due to his illness, the Patriarch gave priority to founding the school and postponed work on the Patriarchal Seat.

To this end, the Patriarch Nersès Varjabedyan Foundation was established, and Apik Uncuyan, A. Çunt, Mgirdic Yesayan, H. Hagopyan, H. Narodunkyan, A. Gülbenkyan and D. Gümüşgerdan became the first foundation members.

After repaying the debts of the Armenian community in Galata and with the money collected through the initiative of Nersès II. Varjabédians, the school opened on September 1, 1886. The Catholicos Magar, religious leader of all Armenians , and Archbishop Harutiun I. Vehabedian , new Patriarch of Constantinople, presided over the opening ceremony. Minas Cheras became the first director.

The grammar school is currently both a boys 'and a girls' school. In 2001 it had a total of 182 students.
