Hayko Cepkin ( Armenian Հայկո Ջեպկին ; born March 11, 1978 in Istanbul , Turkey ) is a Turkish musician of Armenian descent. The Anadolu rock , industrial and alternative metal musician has been the singer and keyboard player of the EMI Group band named after him since 1997 , together with Sedat Oğuzsoy , Murat Cem Ergül and earlier with Onur Şengül , Poyraz Kılıç and Umut Töre .

Beginnings

After graduating from the Armenian High School Getronagan , Cepkin studied musicology for two years at the Mimar Sinan University and attended courses in solfège and harmony at the Timur Selçuk Modern Music Center. After another year at the Istanbul Academy, he began performing and working with Turkish artists such as Ogün Sanlısoy , Aylin Aslım , Koray Candemir and Demir Demirkan . Among other things, he worked on Murathan Mungan's album “Söz vermiş Şarkılar”.

Career

In 2005, Cepkin founded his own band, whose members were Umut Töre ( guitarist ), Onur Şengül ( bass ) and Murat Cem Ergül ( drums ) and Hayko as lead singer . Onur Şengül left the group shortly before the release of the second album and was replaced by Sedat Oğuzsoy. Many songs composed by Cepkin appeared on his first album Sakin Olmam Lazım , which was released in 2005. On the album he used different styles of music from references to classical Turkish music to rock music . Some of his singles that were released from this album are "Yarası Saklı", "Görmüyorsun", "Fırtınam", "Son Kez" and "Zaman Geçti".

In June 2007, Cepkin released his second album titled Tanışma Bitti . The first single "Yalnız Kalsın" was very successful in Turkey. He performed at the annual Turkish rock music festival "Rock'n Coke" and sang in concerts across the country that were mostly sold out. In March 2010 he released his third album called Sandık . The single "Yol Gözümü Dağlıyor" was released as a music video a few days before the album. He then produced two more music videos - "Doymadınız" and "Balık Olsaydım". A few months later Cepkin was invited to Cologne to perform in the "Bootshaus" night club.
