history

School establishment

The Nagold trade school started operations on January 12, 1849, founded as a voluntary craft school by the Nagold trade association, which had the aim of combating the emerging free trade and preserving the craft. The founding of the school is also seen as part of the economic upheaval caused by the German Revolution of 1848/49 . The impetus to found the school was ultimately the "Memorandum of the Royal Academic Council to the Trade Associations, Tradesmen and Trade Friends in Württemberg" published in 1848, which called for the establishment of industrial evening schools in order to avoid the economic crisis and to be able to represent serious competition.

From 1912 to 1944

In 1912 the industrial school moved into a newly constructed building on Calwer Strasse. During the First World War , the building was used as a military hospital with limited school operations .

With the structural change in the craft, a commercial department was set up in the Nagold vocational school in 1920. From around 1936, workshop lessons were established by full-time specialists. After the end of the First World War, the school sometimes functioned as a mouthpiece for nationalist views, according to which “all schools should be informed about Germany's alleged guilt for the war”.

When the NSDAP came to power in 1933, the industrial school also became part of the dictatorship's harmonization. There were 16 new [NS] “memorial days” in the school calendar alone, which should apply to all schools. Towards the end of the war, school operations probably came to a complete standstill due to the recruitment of young people, the drafting of teachers and the relocation of the school.

1944 until today

After the commercial school resumed its operations in 1946, the number of pupils rose again, but there was a shortage of teachers. The demands for the democratization of schools by the Allies were now the new standards .

In 1963, the commercial part of the vocational school, founded in 1920, became independent. During the educational reform from 1969, a one-year vocational school, the two-year metal vocational school, the technical high school and the one-year vocational college were established as new types of vocational school. Due to the steadily growing number of pupils, the school moved to the newly built Nagold vocational training center in 1979, which was expanded in 1999.

At the beginning of the 2012/2013 school year Klaus Nollert was replaced as headmaster by Reinhard Maier.
