Geyersberg is a district of the town of Freyung in the Freyung-Grafenau district in Bavaria . It is located southwest of the core town of Freyung. State road 2132 and the B 12 run north .

history

In the area of ​​the local situation there was originally the Geyersberg castle stables, an abandoned medieval hilltop castle , which was the seat of the Passau bishops and is now a listed building.

The Geyersberg holiday park , which consists of several high-rise buildings, was established in the 1970s and at that time increased the number of guest beds in Freyung.

On May 25, 1987, the Geyersberg district had 95 inhabitants.

In the list of architectural monuments in Freyung , two architectural monuments are listed for Geyersberg :

  • The small farmhouse (Geyersberg 9), marked 1848, is built into a house .
  • The Hakenhof (Geyersberg 13), marked 1837, is a built-in house with wide joints.

On the Geyersberg there is a winter sports area with a ski slope, ski lift, ski school and several cross-country trails. The area can be explored from here on several hiking trails. A holiday park located here that is visible from afar and private providers offer overnight stays and other recreational opportunities.

Right next to the ski slope, the Arnbruck-based glass producer Weinfurtner operates a branch with a demonstration workshop. In the southern part of the village there is a vantage point, from which one has a distant view as far as the Alps in suitable weather . The Bavaria-Klinik Freyung has been located in Geyersberg since 1985 .
