Gholamali Bayandor
Gholamali Bayandor ( Persian غلام علي بايندر; * December 13, 1898 in Tehran ; † August 25, 1941 ) was an Iranian rear admiral .
Life
Gholamali Bayandor was born on December 13, 1898 in Tehran. His ancestors come from Bijar in the province of Kordestān . After his school education in Tehran, he attended the military academy of the Iranian army from 1920 .
Gholamali Bayandor was involved in the suppression of the separatist movement of Mirza Kutschak Khan in Mazandaran in 1921 under the high command of Reza Khan, later Reza Shah Pahlavi . Then he took command of an artillery unit.
In 1921 he was sent to the Military Academy at St. Cyr , France. Ten years later he traveled to Italy with a group of officers to prepare for the establishment of the Iranian Navy. After the establishment of the Iranian Navy , Bayandor was its first commander from November 5, 1933 to August 25, 1941. Gholamali Bayandor fell on his ship at around 4 a.m. on the morning of August 25, 1941 during an attack by the British Navy . Britain and the Soviet Union had launched a major attack as part of the Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran , despite the fact that the government of Iran had declared their neutrality. The British approached his ship on the pretext of wanting to negotiate. When they were within range, they opened fire.
Gholamali Bayandor is the author of numerous publications on the artillery and the navy.
