Giambattista Casti
Giambattista Casti (born August 29, 1724 in Acquapendente , † February 5, 1803 in Paris ) was an Italian poet and satirist .
He wrote libretti for the following operas , among others :
- Il re Teodoro in Venezia (music by Giovanni Paisiello , 1784)
- La grotta di Trofonio (music by Antonio Salieri , 1785)
- Prima la musica e poi le parole (music by Antonio Salieri, 1786)
- Cublai, gran kan de 'Tartari (music by Antonio Salieri, 1786–88)
- Catilina (music by Antonio Salieri, 1790–92)
