Giambattista Ragusa († November 9, 1727 in Palermo ) was an Italian baroque sculptor in Sicily .

As a sculptor he worked almost exclusively in Palermo, where he is said to have died young in 1727. He enjoyed his training in Rome with the sculptor Pietro Papaleo (around 1642-1718) from Palermo and with Pietro Francese. Together with other artists, among them Cristoforo Milanti , he worked on two pilaster strips in the presbytery of the Chiesa del Gesù in 1715/16 . For the Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi he created eight statues of saints based on designs by Paolo Amato between 1716 and 1627. In 1724 and 1725, the marble sculptures of Saints Joseph, Peter, Paul and Francesco di Paolo were created for the balustrade of the cathedral square . A marble bas-relief with the coronation of Viktor Amadeus of Savoy, porch of the cathedral (1713) and a statue of the titular saint for the Cappella di San Francesco di Paolo and three bas-reliefs with scenes from the life of the saint come from his hand. He was sent to Turin on an assignment to make a statue for the forecourt of Palazzo Madama . His colored marble relief "Jonas and the Fish" on the pillar of Santa Caterina from 1727 is very popular. His last work was a statue for San Stanislao , which he could not finish because he died on November 9, 1727. He was buried in the Capuchin Crypt ( Santa Maria della Pace ).
