Giampiero Mele

Giampiero Mele (born April 15, 1958 in Rome ) is an Italian telecommunications entrepreneur and film director .

Life

Mele studied Political Science at La Sapienza University and received a Masters from the University of Southern California . Back in his home country, he worked as an assistant director to a number of important directors such as Mauro Bolognini , Alberto Lattuada and Elda Tattoli . Between 1979 and 1982 he directed several short films and in 1984 presented his only feature-length film for the cinema, In punta di piedi , based on his own script .

After the film was not a great success, Mele devoted himself to the telecommunications industry and, as an author, the history and culture of Eastern Europe, especially the Baltic region. He sits on the board of several companies that promote Italy's relations with these countries; In 2009 his book "Fili d'ambra - Il rinascimento del Baltico" was published. Mele is also vice-president of the “Sezione Elettronica dell'Unione degli Industriali”, the Italian electrical entrepreneur.
