Giancarlo Siani

Giancarlo Siani (born September 19, 1959 in Naples , † September 23, 1985 ibid) was an Italian journalist . He was a court reporter in Naples and was killed by the Camorra , the Neapolitan crime organization.

Giancarlo Siani was born in Naples .

Siani began working for the magazine Osservatorio sulla camorra and later as a correspondent for Il Mattino , the most important newspaper in Naples. He was given the job of local editor of Castellammare di Stabia . He wrote articles on the links between organized crime, politicians and the procurement code for construction works.

Siani was executed by the Camorra on September 23, 1985 in his Citroën Méhari with convertible top in Naples before he reached his apartment. A death squad of at least two men carried out the assassination attempt, they shot him ten times in the head with 7.65 mm ammunition from at least two Beretta pistols. The killers escaped on a motorcycle. At that time, Siani was conducting research on one of their leaders, Valentino Gionta . Gionta was the boss of the Gionta clan , a Camorra clan that was based in Torre Annunziata and controlled cigarette smuggling .
