Gianni Giansanti

Gianni Giansanti (* 1956 in Rome ; † March 18, 2009 ibid) was an Italian photographer and author who became known for his work in photojournalism and sports.

Life

Giansanti started his career in 1977 as a freelancer and a year later he became known worldwide for his photos of the discovery of the body of Aldo Moro . In the following years he was mainly active as a photographer in the world of sports, for seven years he photographed Pope John Paul II on his travels. He worked internationally as a press photographer for the Sygma agency . Among other things, he dealt with Africa, mainly with the still very original tribes such as in the south of Ethiopia in the Omo Valley.

Giansanti died of leukemia in Rome in 2009 .
