Six-year-old Chiantoni, who comes from a Neapolitan family of artists (father Gaetano was an actor with his own small ensemble, brother Amedeo [1871–1965] as well), made her stage debut alongside her father in Rosario di Santa Fé . In 1900 she moved to the “Compagnia Della Guardia-Maggi” for “Amorosa” (roughly: “little sweetie”) roles, two years later as “first young actress” to Ermete Novelli , who became her most important teacher. Engagements in the ensemble around Virgilio Talli / Irma Gramatica / Oreste Calabresi , with which she had great success, especially in La figlia di Jorio at the “Lirico di Milano”.

In 1905 she played in Teresa Mariani's company , where she also met her husband Ernesto Sabbatini (although they were later divorced) and with whom she was under contract until Carnival in 1909. After a brief stint with Elisa Severi / Calabresi, Chiantoni spent three years with Calabresi / Sabbatini / E. Ferrero. Now at the height of her stage career, Chiantoni played the leading female roles at the “Stabile del Manzoni” in Milan, alternating with Irma Gramatica and in 1917 at the “Teatro Argentino” in the Italian capital. In the following year with Giuseppe Sichel / Aristide Baghetti / Ermenegilda Zucchini and again a year later at the “Teatro Eclettico” she was again first leading actress. For a short period of time, she also chaired her own ensemble (Chiantoni / Masi / Cesare Dondini / Zucchini) and performed with Annibale Beltrone . In 1923 she was seen at the "Compagnia del Teatro Italia Sperimentale", which was directed by Vitgilio Talli , and in 1925 alongside Febo Mari . Eventually her career led her to Gualtiero Tumiati in 1929 and into a successful season with Za-Bum No. 5, after which she ended her career.

She made her cinema debut during the silent film era in 1910 in Gerolamo Lo Savios Re Lear and shot a few other works. In 1914 she appeared next to her husband Ernesto Sabbatini in Amore senza fine by the Cines . The sound film productions also had little to do with the actress, so that she only made eight films from 1933 (the last in 1955).

Her nephew is the actor Renato Chiantoni .
