Giardini di Mirò
Giardini di Mirò is an Italian post and indie rock band from Cavriago in the Italian province of Reggio Emilia .
Band history
The origins of the band lie in a short-term collaboration between Corrado Nuccini and Giuseppe Camuncoli, who later became known as a cartoonist. The first release was the self-produced debut album "Rise and Fall of Academic Drifting" , which was released in 1998 the same year the band gained their first concert experience. The core of the line-up are Nuccini, Jukka Reverberi, Luca Di Mira and Mirko Venturelli. After a few years, Francesco Donadello replaced the original drummer Lorenzo Lanzi.
Since the EP "The soft touch" they turned away from the originally purely instrumental post rock of the early days in order to focus more on song structures with the help of guest singers. The second album Punk ... not diet! 2003 was a respectable success and received positive reviews u. a. at Spex , at Intro and at Plattentests.de . Since then, with the help of guests such as Styrofoam , Isan , Yuppie Flu , Alias , Dntel or Apparat, their sound has incorporated elements from Intelligent Dance Music , Psychedelic Rock and Shoegazing , which gives the worn-melancholic music variability and dynamism despite its proximity to pop.
The band was named after an Italian short film about a turtle. The band likes to spread a story that they are the successors of a progressive rock band of the same name from the 1970s, in which Nuccini's uncle played.
