Giant grave in the characteristic shape of the "bull's head" model

The giant tomb of Furrighesu is located west of Sindia and north of the "SS129bis" (road) in the province of Nuoro on sardines . The buildings named in Sardu Tumbas de sos zigantes and in Italian Tombe dei Giganti are among the latest megalithic structures in Europe . The giant grave dates from the middle to late Bronze Age . The 321 known giant tombs are monuments of the Bronze Age Bonnanaro culture (2,200–1,600 BC), which is a precursor to the Nuragic culture .

It should not be confused with the Domus de Janas by Su Furrighesu at Ittireddu .

Structurally, giant tombs appear in two variants. Once with portal steles, similar to Li Lolghi and Coddu Vecchiu . Systems like Muraguada or Madau , on the other hand, are not provided with central steles. Furrighesu belongs to the category of giant graves with cuboid exedra and rectangular access. At Madau, the exedra was built from block stones on an overturned portal stele, which clarifies the sequence.

Seen from above, the giant grave had the characteristic shape of a "bull's head". The only partially preserved exedra is better preserved on the right wing (length 4.85 m, height 1.94 m), with four blocks in situ , while the left wing has only two stones in situ and the others are on the ground. The south-facing rectangular chamber has a length of 5.45 m, a width of about 1.0 m, a height of 1.6 m and an apse at the rear . Its side walls are made from five layers of orthostats and are inclined slightly inward. The head side of the chamber in the center of the exedra consists of four blocks and the slightly trapezoidal access. There are more blocks nearby.

There are remains of a nuraghe and a Neolithic dolmen nearby .
