Gil Reece

Gilbert Ivor Reece (born July 2, 1942 in Cardiff , Wales , † December 20, 2003 ibid) was a Welsh football player .

When Reece started playing for Cardiff City , he was a bottler . At the time he was on a part-time contract. After being on loan to Ton Pentre for a period , he made his debut for the Cardiff reserve team. In the 1962/63 season he was fired and went to FC Pembroke Borough before he got an offer from AFC Newport County at the end of the season , where he was active for a year. He stood out for his impressive performance, which led Sheffield United to sign him for £ 10,000. Shortly thereafter, he made his debut for the Welsh national team in a game against England .

Player career

Reece has played 29 games for the Welsh national team and played over 200 games for Sheffield United. He scored 58 goals for Sheffield. After 1976, Reece played for Barry Town . After the end of his career he worked as a hotel owner. In 2003, Reece died in his hometown of Cardiff.
