Gilbert John Arrow

Gilbert John Arrow (born December 20, 1873 in London , † October 5, 1948 ) was an English entomologist . He published more than 100 papers on the Scarabaeoidea . His most important works are the four volumes Lamellicorns in the Fauna of British India in The Fauna of British India, Including Ceylon and Burma and its synopsis of the hornbill beetles, published by the Government of British India .

Life

After five years as an architect , Gilbert John Arrow took a position in the zoology department of the Natural History Museum in London in 1896 . From then on he devoted himself to studying the beetles , especially the scarab beetles .

After his retirement in 1938, Gilbert John Arrow continued to volunteer at the Natural History Museum until a few weeks before his death, suffering injuries during the war .

He contributed four volumes to The Fauna of British India, Including Ceylon and Burma :
